Your Smart tv software could be the problem. Disconnect the tv power plug from the wall. Then do a soft reset by unplugging the tv power cable from the back of the tv. Wait for sometime, like 9 seconds then connect the smart tv again back into power, switch it on again and the showmax app to see if the black screen has cleared.
