Information Plate (i-plate button)
  • The i-plate is accessed by pressing “i” button in the RCU (where arrow is pointing)
  • It shows NOW, NEXT and THEN events, as well as previous events stored in the buffer
  • It has an additional information indicating the event name where various icons appear
  • These icons indicate whether the event is live or not, and shows if any recording or banner reminder activities are scheduled for the event
  • The i-plate can also be used to schedule or start recordings, as well as to set reminders
Programming the DStv Universal Remote

The Universal RCU can be programmed to operate different entertainment devices like

Televisions, Amplifiers (Hi-Fi’s / Surround Sound); DVD’s; VCR’s; other DStv decoders and M-Net decoders.

Programming the Secondary Device (TV’s, Hi-Fi, Amp & Decoders only)
  1. Switch on the device that you want to programme
  2. Find the code for the device by searching in the Code Table Section (keep trying each code and these steps until suitable code is found)
  3. Turn the dial to select mode x, y or z
  4. Press and hold SHIFT key until the remote light blinks 3 times- ‘If it gives 2 slow blinks check the dial settings to ensure x, y or z is chosen’
  5. Enter the 5-digit device code found in step 2 above, using the numbers pad
Manual Code Search
  • Switch the device on
  • Turn the dial to select mode x, y or z
  • Press and hold the SHIFT key until the RCU light blinks 3 times
  • Press 991 on the numbers pad
  • Select the device you will be searching for i.e. a. TV = TV key b. Hi-Fi/ Amp = ALT key
  • Press P+ continuously at regular intervals until the device switches off. If you have passed the code press P- until the device switches on
  • Press the HELP button to store. (the remote light will blink 3 times and store the code) Once the device has been programmed, the customer can utilize their remote (RCU)’s basic functionality. For example:

Power - Switch device ON/OFF | P+ / P-  - Changes the channel number | V+ / V-  - Increases or decrease volume level | 0 – 9 - Numeric keys | Alt - Switch to AV
